What are matching gifts?
Corporate matching gift programs allow companies to amplify their employees’ charitable giving by matching eligible donations to nonprofit organizations. Many programs also extend to retirees and spouses and may provide matching support for volunteer hours, helping employees increase their impact while strengthening connections between companies and the communities they serve.
Will my company match my donation?
Use our online search tool to find out whether your employer offers a matching gift program many larger companies do. If you don’t see your employer listed, check with your HR department to learn whether a program is available or to ask about starting one.
What types of donations are acceptable?
Matching gift eligibility varies by employer, but many programs extend beyond current employees to include retirees and spouses. Some companies also provide financial grants based on volunteer hours, so it’s worth checking your employer’s guidelines to see which types of support qualify.
How much will my employer match?
Matching gift amounts depend on the employer. Some companies match donations dollar for dollar, while others may double or even multiply an employee’s contribution. Review your employer’s program details to see how much your gift could grow.
What do I do next?
If your employer offers a matching gift program, the next step is usually simple: make your donation to REIN, then submit a matching gift request through your company’s HR department, employee benefits portal, or matching gift platform. Your employer may ask REIN to verify the donation before sending its matching contribution.
Already donated? You may still be eligible to request a match many companies allow employees to submit requests for gifts made earlier in the year.
